About, Help, and Policies
Everything you need to understand how The Black Provider Network works, how we protect your information, and how to reach us.
About The Black Provider Network
The Black Provider Network is a directory of psychiatrists, therapists, licensed clinical social workers, and nurse practitioners. We were built to make it easier for Black clients to find clinicians who understand their experiences without needing to explain them first.
What We Do
- We list licensed clinicians who apply, pay a subscription, and pass our verification review.
- We let you search by city, state, or ZIP code, provider type, and insurance panel.
- Clients can call, email, or message providers directly from each profile. Providers choose whether to show a phone number or email address.
What We Are Not
- We are not a medical practice, a crisis service, or an emergency resource.
- We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- We do not endorse any clinician's care. Listings are provided by the clinicians themselves.
How Verification Works
Before a profile goes live, we check the clinician's license with the state licensing board and their National Provider Identifier (NPI) in the federal NPPES registry. We confirm insurance panels directly with the clinician. Profiles are reviewed again on a regular schedule, and any listing with lapsed or unverifiable credentials is removed.
Frequently Asked Questions
For Clients
Is this a crisis service?
No. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988 (US) to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 for an emergency.
How do I contact a provider?
Open the provider's profile. If the provider has chosen to show a phone number or email address, you can call or email them directly. You can also select "Contact Provider" to send a message. Your name and email are shared with the provider only when you send one.
Are the providers verified?
Yes. Each profile is checked against the state licensing board and the NPI registry before it is published. Insurance panels are confirmed with the clinician directly.
Does a listing mean a provider is right for me?
No. A listing confirms credentials and general information. Fit, cost, and clinical approach are best judged in a consultation with the clinician.
Does using this site create a doctor-patient relationship?
No. Using the directory or sending a message does not create a clinical relationship with any provider or with The Black Provider Network.
For Providers
Who can join?
Psychiatrists, therapists, licensed clinical social workers, and nurse practitioners who hold an active license and meet our verification checks.
Do I have to fill out everything?
No. Only identity, licensing, and location are required. Your personal statement, session fees, photos, video, insurance, availability, and contact options are optional and can be added now or later.
How does the free trial work?
Every new listing starts with 30 days free. You are not charged until the trial ends. After that, the subscription bills monthly unless you cancel before the trial ends.
How do I add the verified badge to my website?
Open your verified profile and copy the code in the Verified Badge section. Paste it into your website where you want the badge to appear. The badge links back to your listing. It appears only while your listing is verified.
How do I join?
Select "Join as a Provider" and complete the application. After submission, you will be directed to subscribe through our secure payment link. Your listing goes live after verification.
What does the subscription cost?
Pricing will be published on this site before billing opens. Subscriptions are billed monthly, and billing begins 30 days after you join.
Can I edit my profile?
Yes. Send an update request through the contact details below. Changes to your license, NPI, or insurance panels are re-verified before they appear.
How do I remove my listing?
Email us at the address below and we will remove your profile within five business days. Cancelling your subscription also ends your listing at the end of the billing period.
In crisis? Call or text 988 (US) or dial 911 now. This directory cannot respond to emergencies.
Privacy Policy
What We Collect
- From providers: name, credentials, license details, NPI, practice location, insurance panels, fees, specialties, bio, headshot, and billing information handled by Stripe.
- From clients: the details you enter when you search or send a message, such as your name, email, and message.
- From everyone: basic technical information, such as browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site working.
What Is Public
Public profile details include the clinician's name, credentials, city, state, ZIP code, session format, fees, specialties, insurance panels, bio, headshot, intro video, practice photos, and website if provided. Licensing numbers, NPI numbers, and street addresses are never displayed publicly. A provider's phone number and email address appear on their profile only if they choose to show them.
How We Use Information
We use information to verify providers, operate the directory, deliver messages, process subscriptions, respond to questions, and improve the site. We do not sell personal information.
Sharing
We share your message with the provider you contact. We share information with service providers that help us run the site, such as hosting, form processing, and payments, under agreements that limit their use of it. We may disclose information when required by law.
Videos and Photos
Intro videos play from YouTube or Vimeo, and their privacy policies apply when a video is played. Photos are stored with our hosting provider. Please upload only photos of your practice, your workspace, or your professional work.
Sensitive Information
Please do not include clinical history, diagnoses, or other health details in a message. Share only what you need for a first contact. The directory is not a secure clinical channel.
Retention and Your Choices
We keep provider verification records for as long as a listing is active and for a period afterward required by our legal and record-keeping obligations. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your information by contacting us at the address below.
Changes
We will post updates to this policy on this page and change the date below when we do.
